To the Sheriff of the County of Hartford or Litchfield his Deputy or other of the Constables of the Town of Harwinton within said County of Litchfield

Greeting-------Whereas Anne _of Hartford in the County of Hartford Single Woman Daughter of John _ of said Hartford Recovered Judgment against Thomas _ of Harwinton in the County Litchfield, a single man before the County Court held at Hartford for the County of Hartford on the first Tuesday of November 1781 Viz.: that held Thomas _ shall be the reputed father of a certain bastard child born of the body of her the said Anne _ on the 28th day of November AD 1779 and shall stand charged with the maintenance of said child with the assistance of the mother the said Anne and shall pay to her towards the same the sum of three shillings each week at the end and expiration of each and every quarter of a year until the term of four years next ensuing the day of the birth of said child as you said should fully be complete and ended together with the cost of prosecution in the case which was allowed to be 5 pounds 9 shillings 4 pence lawful money as of record appears. And whereas upon the 28th day of November AD 1781 eight quarters being the whole of the two first years from the day of the birth of said child were complete and ended whereby the said sum of three shillings each week for the said quarter of the said two first years from the date of the birth of said child which in the whole amounts to the sum of Fifteen pounds and twelve shillings Lawful money is become due and payable from him the said Thomas _ to her the said Anne _ towards the maintenance of said bastard child for which and for said sum of five pounds nine shillings and four pence Lawful money for the said cost of prosecution.

Execution now remains to be done-----------These are therefor in the name of the Governor and Company of the State of Connecticut to command you that of the money goods chattel or lands of the said Thomas _ within your precincts you cause to be levied and the same being disposed of as the Law directs paid and satisfied unto the said Anne _.

The aforesaid sum being 21 pounds 5 shillings 4 pence lawful money in the whole with one shilling Lawful money for this Writ together with your own fees, and for want of such money goods chattel or lands of the said Thomas _ to be by him shown unto you or found within your precincts to the acceptance of the said Anne _ for the satisfying the aforesaid sums you are hereby Commanded to take the Body of the said Thomas _ and him commit unto the keepers of the Common Goal in Litchfield in the County of Litchfield within the said Prison who is likewise hereby Commanded to receive the said Thomas _ and him safely to keep until he pay unto the said Anne _ the full sums above.
